Minun ÄÄNI

Overview

A customizable speech app for children and people who need another way to communicate.

Minun ÄÄNI can be used locally without Google sign-in or Google Drive. Communication boards, folders, button text, typed messages, settings, and images are stored on the device by default. If a trusted user enables Google Drive backup, restore, or device transfer, app-created backup files are stored in the signed-in user's Google Drive.

Minun ÄÄNI does not operate its own cloud storage service for private communication-board content.

If the app is installed through a Luotsi campaign or affiliate link, it may send minimal install attribution metadata to The Great North Software Company's Luotsi dashboard. This does not include board content, typed or spoken text, images, Google account information, payment details, or children's private content.

Intended Users And Adult Support

Minun ÄÄNI is designed for children, families, and adults who need or benefit from speech support. The app is intended for supervised family, caregiver, educational, therapy-support, or support-person use when the user is a child or otherwise needs support.

Google sign-in, Google Drive backup and restore, protected settings, import/export, access-mode changes, and purchases should be handled by a parent, guardian, caregiver, teacher, therapist, or other trusted responsible user.

The app can be used as a simple AAC-style communication app, but it is not a medical device and is not meant to replace professional assessment, therapy, or individualized communication planning.

Data The App Can Process

Minun ÄÄNI can process data that the user or trusted support person chooses to put into the app:

• Communication boards, folders, and button order.
• Button labels and spoken text.
• Typed messages spoken through device text-to-speech.
• Images selected from the device or captured for button pictures.
• Layout, color, language, voice, speech, access-mode, and protected-settings preferences.
• Access PIN state for protected actions.
• Google sign-in state used for optional Google Drive features.
• Backup metadata needed to restore or synchronize the user's own backup.
• Play Billing purchase state for the Pro unlock.
• Affiliate attribution metadata if the app was installed through a Luotsi campaign link, such as app package, app version, anonymous install ID, and campaign/referrer parameters from Google Play.
• Local diagnostic logs and device/app metadata used only for troubleshooting when the user chooses to send a diagnostics ZIP.

The app does not intentionally collect advertising identifiers, precise location, phone numbers, contacts, health records, payment card details, or audio recordings.

How Data Is Used

Minun ÄÄNI uses app data to:

• Show communication boards, folders, and speech buttons.
• Speak selected button text or typed messages using the Android text-to-speech system.
• Build longer messages before speaking.
• Save and display button images.
• Remember app, speech, layout, color, and protected-setting preferences.
• Enforce Light/Pro button limits.
• Back up, restore, transfer, merge, or sync data through Google Drive when enabled.
• Create an optional diagnostics ZIP for support if the user requests it.
• Measure whether a Luotsi campaign or affiliate link led to an app install.

The app does not use user communication content for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

Where Data Is Stored

On The Device

Communication boards, folders, buttons, settings, and local image files are stored in app-private storage on the device.

Android system backup or device transfer may also include app data depending on the user's device and Google account settings.

In Google Drive

If a trusted user signs in with Google and enables Google Drive backup, restore, or device transfer, Minun ÄÄNI stores or reads backup data in Google Drive.

Drive backup data can include boards, folders, button order, button settings, button labels and spoken text, button images, app settings included in the backup format, and backup metadata needed for restore, merge, or synchronization.

Current backups are stored in the signed-in user's Google Drive in app-created backup files and folders. For one-time recovery of an older folder backup, Android's system folder picker grants the app read access only to the folder the user selects; the app reads that folder to recover the backup and creates a new app-owned backup.

Manual Export And Import

The user can export a backup through Android's system sharing interface or import a backup through Android's document picker. The user chooses where an exported backup is saved or shared and which backup file is opened for import.

Affiliate Attribution

If the app was installed through a Luotsi campaign link, the app may send a one-time install attribution event to the Luotsi dashboard. The event can include the app package, app version, anonymous install ID, and campaign/referrer parameters from Google Play. It does not include board content, typed or spoken text, images, Google account information, payment details, or children's private content.

Diagnostics

Minun ÄÄNI keeps limited local diagnostic logs to help troubleshoot crashes, backup, restore, sync, and app-flow problems. These logs are stored on the device. They are not sent automatically. If the user chooses to contact support and attach a diagnostics ZIP, the ZIP can include app version, Android version, device model, Drive backup status, last backup timestamps, diagnostic log messages, and crash stack traces. The diagnostics ZIP is designed to exclude board text, button images, Google tokens, and account identifiers.

Permissions And Device Features

Minun ÄÄNI may use:

• Internet and network state: used for Google sign-in, Google Drive backup, restore, and synchronization, Play Billing, and one-time Luotsi install attribution when the app was installed through a Luotsi campaign link.
• Camera or photo/image picker: used only when a trusted user chooses to add or capture a button image.
• Android text-to-speech: used to speak button labels and typed messages aloud.

The app does not record audio and does not use the camera in the background.

Sharing

Minun ÄÄNI does not sell personal data. The developer does not operate a backend that receives or stores users' private communication-board content.

Data may be shared with Google only as needed for user-facing features:

• Google sign-in and Google Drive storage, restore, and synchronization of the user's own backup.
• Google Play Billing for the Pro unlock purchase state.
• The developer-operated Luotsi dashboard for one-time affiliate install attribution when a Luotsi campaign link caused the install.
• Support email only if the user chooses to send a diagnostics ZIP or support email.

If the user exports or shares a backup through Android's system interface, anyone with access to the resulting file may be able to read its contents.

Light And Pro

The Light version includes the same core speech tools with a limited number of speech buttons. The current Light limit is 50 speech buttons.

The Pro unlock is a one-time in-app purchase that removes the button limit for ongoing use. Purchase processing and purchase state are handled through Google Play Billing.

Children And Supported Users

Because Minun ÄÄNI may be used by children and people with support needs, adults should avoid entering unnecessary sensitive information into button text, folder names, typed messages, or images.

Parents, guardians, caregivers, teachers, therapists, or other support persons are responsible for deciding what content is appropriate to store in the app and whether Google Drive backup or manual export is appropriate for the user.

The app does not include ads and does not include open chat or social features for communicating with strangers.

Retention And Control

Because private communication-board content is stored on the user's device or in the user's own Google Drive, The Great North Software Company normally cannot delete that content for the user.

Local data can be controlled by editing or deleting boards and buttons in the app, clearing app data, or uninstalling the app.

Google Drive backup and exported backup data can be controlled by:

• Signing out in the app.
• Deleting backup files or folders from Google Drive.
• Deleting exported backup files wherever the user saved or shared them.

Data deletion requests

To request deletion of developer-held data, email info@thegreatnorth.fi with the app name and a short description of the request.

We can delete support emails, attachments, and Luotsi affiliate attribution metadata held in our systems. Luotsi attribution metadata can include the app package, app version, anonymous install ID, campaign/referrer parameters, and related campaign event records.

We cannot delete private app content stored only on the user's device, in the user's Google Drive, in Android backup, or in Google Play purchase records. Those records must be managed through the app, device settings, Google Drive, Google account, or Google Play.
